Demand for energy in a fast-growing economy like India is
galloping. The country is already
the third largest consumer of energy in the world. India retained its spot as the
third-largest consumer of oil in the world.
The gas sector is among the eight core industries in India and plays a critical role in the
growth of our economy.
India's demand for gas is expected to almost double by 2030 to reach 115 BCM. By 2050, the
demand for gas in the country is expected to rise to 170 BCM. The consumption of natural gas
in India is forecasted to escalate at a CAGR of 12.2 percent to attain a figure of 550 MCMPD
by 2030 from 174 MCMPD in 2021. According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), in India
the consumption of natural gas is expected to enhance by 25 BCM, registering an average
annual growth of 9 percent until 2024. India's industrial gases market is estimated to
expand rapidly in the following years till 2026.
Besides Indian government has introduced several policies to cater to increasing demand for
oil and gas in India. It has allowed 100 percent foreign direct investment (FDI) in several
areas of the sector, including natural gas, petroleum products and refineries, among
others.
The Next Edition of the Gas India Expo 2024 is expected to facilitate to sellers to showcase
and buyers to source new products, solutions and technologies, equipment's, strengthen and
opportunity to build relationships with the entire energy value chain, including Natural and
